Passes in at least five (5) different subjects, at CSEC General Proficiency Examination, Grade I and II; Grade III from 1998 onwards; or / GCE "O" Level examinations or any equivalent qualifications. The subjects must include the following: English Language, Mathematics, Art or Geography or History/Social Studies or a Science subject (Integrated Science/Physics/Chemistry/Engineering Science). |
Alternatively, applicants may hold one of the following qualifications or similar qualifications from other Regional or International Tertiary Institutions: GTEE Technician Diploma (Building and Civil), GTEE Ordinary Diploma in Science (Physics or Chemistry), GTEE Parts 1 and 2 in Building and Civil Construction Certificate, GTEE Part 1 in Building and Civil Construction Certificate and the Certificate in Architectural Drawing. |
Mature applicants who do not possess academic qualification set out above, but who possess relevant skills and experience and are interested in entering the programme must pass the UGEE and submit a portfolio of prior learning which demonstrates their competence to undertake the course of studies leading to the degree. All mature applicants must attend a face-to-face interview in person or via skype. |
Any other applicants who possess technical qualifications from other tertiary institutions regionally or internationally are: A) Required to submit a portfolio consisting of no less than five (5) and no more than ten (10) examples of the applicant's art work and/or design work. The portfolio must include drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography, graphics, films, or any other work in visual design, Architectural work is not required in the portfolio, Letters of verification confirming that the work in the portfolio is the applicant's own work must accompany the portfolio.
B) All candidates may be required to attend a face-to-face interview (or via Skype) to assess their ability and suitability to benefit from the programme. The interview will also allow students to express their interests and expectations of the programme. |
